Advancing the Use of Geophysical and Geodetic Methods for Groundwater Science and Management
Advancing the Use of Geophysical and Geodetic Methods for Groundwater Science and Management
Session ID#: 161333
Session Description:
Effective and sustainable groundwater management requires an understanding of the functioning of the groundwater system; and an ability to evaluate and monitor groundwater quantity and quality. In this session we focus on the application of geophysical and geodetic methods, including remote sensing techniques, using subsurface, surface, airborne, and/or satellite sensors to obtain the information needed about subsurface properties and processes. Of interest are examples related to all aspects of groundwater science and management. We invite presentations displaying the use of novel data sources and sensors; the use of established data sources and sensors in new ways; advancements in data integration across spatial and temporal scales; and data-driven breakthroughs in our understanding of groundwater systems. The spatial scale of interest ranges from plot-scale to regional. We welcome discussions on bridging the gap from science to management.
