Utilizing Earth Observations to Address Complex Environmental Challenges in South and Southeast Asia
Session ID#: 161410
Session Description:
In South and Southeast Asia, diverse landscapes necessitate unique solutions for addressing the adverse effects of climate change. Growing population and economies exacerbate these effects, increasing demand for interdisciplinary approaches to inform environmental decision making. This session focuses on applied research efforts in these regions that incorporate Earth observations and geospatial technologies to generate tools, data products, applications, and services that support decision makers from governmental institutions, non-governmental agencies, the general public, and the private sector. The major climate-related challenges facing the region include food security and agriculture, water resources management, extreme weather, air pollution, disaster risk reduction, and rapidly changing land use and ecosystems. Submissions are welcome from researchers and practitioners focusing on addressing these societal challenges for the South and Southeast Asia regions.
