Surface Processes on Rocky and Icy Bodies across the Solar System
Surface Processes on Rocky and Icy Bodies across the Solar System
Session ID#: 162831
Session Description:
The surfaces of planetary bodies record a myriad of processes that have shaped the evolution of the Solar System. As such, geomorphic principles derived for the Earth are often applied to other extraterrestrial bodies, providing critical insights into their geologic histories, from ancient to modern-day landscapes. This sessionâs goal is to explore the analysis and interpretation of planetary data, including the challenges that lie at the intersections between observations and models of the geomorphologic processes at play on these other worlds. We invite contributions in the field of planetary surface processes that use theoretical and numerical modeling, terrestrial analogues, laboratory experiments, and planetary exploration data from robotic spacecraft. We intend for this session to foster more collaboration between members of the PS and EPSP sections, and to continue to build a diverse community founded on interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches.
