English Abstract:
Aeromagnetic data is used frequently for finding depth of magnetic sources in the crust. There are many methods for estimation of depth in frequency domain. These methods are based on random uncorrelated and random fractal distributions of sources with various claims of accuracy. In this study we are exploring in details application of these methods on synthetic magnetic as well as on aeromagnetic data of central India. The conventional methods based on random and uncorrelated distribution of sources provide overestimation of depth values whereas fractal bases approaches provide depth values close to the real values from synthetic data. Sometimes simultaneous estimation of depth and fractal dimension of source distribution using inversion method is problematic. A constrain on depth or fractal dimension of distribution provide better estimation of other parameter. The study is on going for finding depth values from aeromagnetic data of central India having complex tectonic and good coverage of aeromagnetic data. A comparison of depth values found from various approaches with other geophysical studies will be presented.
