English Abstract:
In Bangladesh natural gas is the aboriginal source of energy that accounts for 75% of the commercial energy of the country. So far 26 gas fields of Bangladesh have been discovered in the Bengal Basin. The total initial gas reserve has been estimated at 28.62 Tcf (Proven and Probable) and 20.63 Tcf of natural gas (recoverable) that will meet our demand of energy consumption till 2019. Discovery and utilization of indigenous natural resources is a crucial need for the economic and industrial development of Bangladesh. It is necessary to research and re-evaluate present condition and reserve of gas fields of Bangladesh for precise information to achieve success for finding more natural gas and meet demand for natural gas consumption. The ultimate goal of the research work is to detect hydrocarbon accumulations, delineate their extent and calculate their volumes of Srikail gas field, one of the producing gas fields in Bangladesh. Integrating seismic and wire line log data of Srikail gas field have been used on modeling tools of Geology and Petrophysics in Petrel Software. Property and Geological Modeling have been performed using various algorithms present in the software. The purpose of this research work is to interpret the seismic traces with the help of software to identify the subsurface 3D structural condition and the Hydrocarbon prospectively of the studied area. This study delineates the subsurface structure and prospects reevaluation of the reserve of the Srikail field from geophysical and geological data & evaluates the hydrocarbon prospective zone of the area. In this research, time contour map, depth structure map, fault modeling, correlation among wells showing reservoir zone of this area is generated using Petrel software of Schlumberger Inc. which reveals the structural trend of Srikail gas field. Different individual model such as porosity model, bulk volume model, velocity model etc. is generated. Actual reservoir condition, extent of various gas sands, reserve of all the gas zones and the location of maximum hydrocarbon reserve of Srikail gas field is estimated. The research work aims to offer the basis for future, serious investigations and exploration drilling in Srikail gas field & also helps better planning on future gas demand-supply through better knowledge about the gas reservoir.
