This transdisciplinary session will offer the international marine science community a platform to discuss oceanographic science projects that have gone beyond basic research to make use of innovative technologies, provide unique knowledge on novel or understudied marine systems, or led to extensive conservation measures. We invite abstracts describing research that has benefited society and supported long-term ocean health and resilience using state-of-the-art oceanographic research methods and/or led to additional protections, policy shifts, or community engagement based on the results of the research efforts taking place. We expect this session will display examples of how a better understanding of the world’s ocean has led to the implementation of technology-driven solutions and conservation practices.
