“Windows into History” is a research based podcast assignment used in an AP US History classes for the last three years. Students select one primary source, researching the immediate story of the source and then put it into the context of local and national history. Students write a script that weaves the story of the source into the larger historical context and record the podcast. Students are able to choose their own source and are encouraged to think creatively and use a primary source that might have personal value for them. The podcasts are then evaluated by their peers. Podcasts are posted on a Google Site maintained by the classroom teacher.
