Session Abstract
Drawing on studies of San Francisco in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in California, the military community of Seaside connected to the massive Fort Ord training base, and a San Diego anti-discrimination lawsuit that was part of late nineteenth century organizing for equal rights, this panel explores a range of ways that activism challenged racist policies and practices.
