Session Abstract

Academic programs and majors that prepare K-12 history and social studies teachers are often based in education departments or schools, rather than in history departments. How can faculty and students collaborate across programs? As declining majors and institutional reorientation towards professional programs puts pressure on history programs themselves, where are the opportunities for the disciplinary community to contribute to the preparation of teachers (and sustain history scholarship)? What difference does this make for students and for faculty?
