Large-Scale Bioseparation with Magnetic Particles

Karsten Keller, Advanced Process Technology, DuPont Engineering Research and Technology, Experimental Station, Wilmington, DE 19880

Using a magnetic field for large-scale process technology provides a new set of parameters to improve or create new products. It is unique to DuPont that a combination of Nano- and Biotechnology integrated by magnetic field forces can revolutionize the processes in Medical Applications, Food, Pharmacy, and Biotechnology. Applying magnetic forces are well known in the mining industry, e.g., to separate out magnetic particles from non-magnetic ones. The paper will gives inside of magnetic enhanced bioseparation.
