The current work involves fabrication of photovoltaic devices from nanotubes of the semiconducting polymer poly(2-methoxy-5-(2x-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV). Nanotubes with 100 nm and 200 nm outer diameters were made via a novel nanofabrication technique, template wetting nanofabrication. The current-voltage (J-V) characteristics of Schottky diodes created from these nanotubes were found to follow the space-charge limited conduction model in forward bias. The devices also demonstrated photovoltaic behavior with significant increases in fill factor vs. thin-film devices, indicative of reduced carrier recombination.
