Computational fluid dynamics and population balance modeling are combined to produce the spatial distribution of bubbles of different sizes in a bubble column and compared successfully with experiments obtained by Laser Doppler Anemometry. In particular, the inclusion of a lift force provides for the proper spatial distribution.
