Model Pathways for Gaseous Products of Lignin Thermolysis

Preetinder S. Virk, Department of Chemical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA

Monoaromatic compounds containing moieties akin to those found in the enzyme-initiated dehydrogenative randomly- polymerized conifeyl-, coumaryl-, and sinapyl-alcohol backbone of lignin were thermolysed to mimic possible pathways by which its gaseous thermolysis products arise.
