A Novel Gram-Scale and Green(er) Strategy for the Synthesis of Colloidal Nanostructures

Ludovico Cademartiri, Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA and Geoffrey A. Ozin, Chemistry, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada

In this talk I will describe a strategy for the synthesis of high quality colloidal nanocrystals. The advantages of this new synthetic approach are: (i) it can be easily scaled to the multigram-scale, (ii) it necessitates lower temperatures than most traditional methods, (iii) it employs highly stable, cheap and recyclable precursors; (iv) it uses far less solvents than the traditional routes; (v) the nanomaterials it produces are often superior to the ones produced by traditional routes in terms of monodispersity and performance.
