Recent Results in Chemical Reaction Network Theory

Martin Feinberg, Ohio State University, Columbus, OH

Reuel Shinnar was an early pioneer in the theory of reactor behavior. Reuel and others laid the foundations for a body of theory, largely driven by practical chemical engineering problems, that now permits one to make penetrating and far-from-obvious statements about highly complex chemical systems in a precise way. This talk will describe some  of what is  known about the behavior of intricate chemical reaction networks more than a half century after Reuel began his career.
