In this talk, the multifunctional epoxy nanocomposites reinforced with different nanofillers such as magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs), silica NPs were prepared to provide epoxy matrix the electrical, dielectric, flame retardant, magnetic properties. The surface of these nanofillers is tuned by the introduction of conductive polymer including polyaniline and polypyrrole. The enhanced mechanical properties including tensile strength and glass transition temperature are obtained through the tensile tests and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The reduced flame retardant behavior of these epoxy nanocomposites is investigated via microscale combustion calorimeter (MCC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The electrical conductivity has been improved by introducing the conductive polymer on the surface of nanoparticles. The interaction between polyaniline or polypyrrole and epoxy matrix is explored as well. The observed strong interfacial interaction between polyaniline or polypyrrole and epoxy resin matrix is responsible for the enhanced mechanical tensile strength and improved glass transition temperature.
