Greywater is defined as water effluent that originates from kitchen, laundry rooms, bathrooms/washrooms, sinks, and showers and is composed of mostly chemicals and biological organisms. The treated greywater can be recycled and reused for non-potable uses such as irrigation and washing in a house or residential complexes. In this study, the treatment of greywater by titanium dioxide photocatalyst under UV light is investigated. The parameters such as dissolved oxygen content, chemical oxygen demand, pH, and turbidity have been studied. Greywater samples treated by nano-sized titanium dioxide and large-sized titanium dioxide are similar in pH and dissolved oxygen content. However, the results indicate that the samples treated by nano-sized titanium dioxide have less amount of organic compounds than the one treated by regular titanium dioxide. The nano-treatment method performed in this study shows a noticeable improvement of the quality of the greywater.
