Abstract

A novel CO2 capture method by using environment-friendly chemical magnesium hydroxide solution has been tested and evaluated in response to minimizing the CO2 emissions from coal-fired power plant in the post-combustion control area. The goal of this study is to conduct the technical feasibility studies in the area of physical &chemical characteristic of Mg(OH)2, chemistry of the system, lean solution performance in absorption, capacity of regeneration in desorption. It is found that >90% removal efficiency can be achieved in the bubble column absorber; a C/Mg ratio of 9 is achievable at the condition of  52 ℃ absorption and 75 ℃ desorption; a fresh feeding rate of 0.008 L/sec is optimized condition in the continuous test.
