The purpose of this presentation is to evaluate computational fluid dynamics modeling for granular flows for polydisperse solids and their motion within multiple carrier fluid systems.  Much of the established work is based on monodisperse particles within a single-carrier fluid system, and their extension requires special attention.  Here, a consistency constraint is proposed as a basic test of such an extension.  Based on this constraint, it is found that some of the most common models fail.  These models are adapted to pass the consistency criteria, and applied to a number of test cases that indicates that relatively small model reformulations can enable models established in a monodisperse solids flow in a single carrier fluid, to produce accurate results in highly polydisperse particle flows with multiple carrier fluids.  The model reformulations are applied to a polydisperse granular flow in a bladed mixer (Remy, et. al.  2011).
