The success of the “hydrogen economy” will ultimately depend on efficient and sustainable production, storage, and distribution of hydrogen [1-2]. Owing to its low toxicity and high volumetric H2 storage capacity, formic acid (FA) has been considered as one of the promising chemical hydrogen storage materials for fuel cells and energy storage systems. However, for FA to be useful for practical applications, highy active catalysts for FA dehydrogenation are necessary. In this contribution, we present highly capable Pd-based nanoparticles supported on nitrogen doped carbon supports including Pd/C3N4 [3], Pd/SBA-15-Amine [4], and a surface-modified PdAu nanocatalysts. We further discuss about the potential influence of the added nitrogen eleement on FA dehydrogenation activities.
