The presentation will summarize our recent efforts and progress in nanostructured enzyme catalysts. I will show firstly how CO2 diffusion from the bulk phase to the active site of carbonic anhydrase (CA), an enzyme promising for intensified CO2 sequestration, using molecular dynamics simulation (MD) and the Markov-state model (MSM). Then encapsulation of CA on various nanomaterials will be given to show how the diffusion is affected by the size and surface property of the nano-confinement, as predicated by above simulation. This presentation will also address our recent progress in fabricating multiple enzyme catalyst using i.e., activated carbon as adsorbent, Con A as molecular linker, reverse micelle as a physical confinement. The advantages of co-localization of multipole enzymes in terms of directed substrate transport and substrate generation will also be discussed.
