An electrochemical sensor based on functionalized graphene (Arg-G) nanocomposite was fabricated for sensitive detection of acetaminophen (AP) via mutilple hydrogen bonding platform. The electrochemical behaviors of acetaminophen on Arg-G composite film modified glassy carbon electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, quartz crystal microbalance and differential pulse voltammetry. The interaction between Arg and AP also were investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, UV photometer and fluorescence spectra. The results indicated that Arg could form hydrogen bond with AP, which could enhanced the electrochemical response of acetaminophen. This fabricated sensor displayed excellent analytical performance for acetaminophen detection over a range from 0.1 to 3000 μmol L−1 with a detection limit of 0.05 μmol L-1 (S/N=3). The sensor also showed good performance for AP detection in serum. Moreover, the proposed electrochemical sensor also exhibited good reproducibility and stability, and has been used to detect acetaminophen in tablets and the serum.
