Dr. Tony Cai’s contributions to distillation engineering have been appreciable and globally appreciated. His contributions to non-distillation areas have been of equal magnitudes. This presentation and paper summarize his work in the fields of kettle reboiler heat transfer, kettle reboiler hydraulics, absorption, PDI spray characterizations, spray absorption, mist elimination, process control software, Steady State Identification (SSID) software, flow metering, corrosion under insulation (CUI), gamma scanning, pressure relief valves and liquid orifice discharge coefficients. On Sunday afternoons, he rested - sometimes.
