High electrical conductivity and large accessible surface area, which are required for ideal electrode materials in energy devices, are opposed to each other in current materials. In this presentation, I will present you an invented reaction based on Na and CO to synthesize sodium-embedded carbon nanowalls. The synthesized sodium-embedded carbon’s conductivity is two orders of magnitude larger than three-dimensional graphene. Furthermore, the nanowall structure has a large accessible surface area comparable to graphene. This Na-embedded carbon solved the contradiction of high electrical conductivity and large surface area in electrode materials.
