Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture, storage and utilization technology has attracted recent attention as a technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate global warming. On the contrary, CO2 demands have been increased for inactive gases, dry ice in markets and refrigerant instead of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). So far we have captured CO2 from the source with high CO2 concentration due to the limitation of CO2 demands. However, we will have to capture CO2 from the source with lower CO2 concentration due to recent diversification of CO2 demands as well. Therefore, it is necessary to design suitable CO2 capture processes for satisfying to several CO2 demands and sources.
In this research, therefore, characteristics of several CO2 capture processes have been investigated and the required energy for these processes have been compared from the process design point of view in order to create a tool for designing suitable processes by simulations and experiments.
