Novel 2k Waterborne Acrylic Binder for Sports Track

Sports track is a kind of rubberized artificial running surface and widely used in professional athletic competition fields and public sports facilities . Previous binder for sports track is typically based on 2k solvent borne polyurethane in China, but the possible toxic components and VOC will do harm to public health and environment as well, and now it has become a public hot topic. In this report, A novel 2k waterborne acrylic latex based binder was developed for running track. Working mechanism was studied with the new binder system including film microstructure, film performances and bonding behavior with rubber substrate. The running track samples can achieve the requirements of national GB code. Based on this technology, a commercial product, named Eco-Ground® was launched in 2014.
