“Verbund”, or “integration” is a strength of global leading chemical company BASF. The Verbund principle enables the company to add value through efficient use of our resources. The Verbund principle comprises intelligent interlinking of production plants, energy flows and infrastructure, as well as intelligent integration of know-how and customer connection. Verbund systems creates efficient value chains that extend from basic chemicals right through to high-value-added products such as coatings and crop protection agents. In addition, the by-products of one plant can be used as the starting materials of another. In this system, chemical processes consume less energy, produce higher product yields and conserve resources. In that manner, the company saves on raw materials and energy, minimize emissions, cut logistics costs and exploit synergies. The presentation will cover the fundamentals of the Verbund system and how they are applied at chemical production sites in China.
