Herein we present the successful preparation of continuous and reproducible Bio-MOF-1 membranes supported on porous stainless steel tubes. These membranes displayed high CO2 permeances for equimolar mixtures of CO2 and CH4. The observed CO2/CH4 selectivities above one indicate that the separation  is promoted by competitive adsorption. The preferential CO2 adsorption was attributed to the presence of adeninate amino basic sites present in the Bio-MOF-1 structure. To our best knowledge, we demonstrate for the first time: a) the synthesis of any continuous Bio-MOF membranes and b) the ability of these membranes to separate CO2/CH4 gas mixtures.
