Membrane  pore  size  and  pore  size distribution is critical for membrane performance.  Two  methods  (mercury  intrusion  and  flow  porometer)  are commonly  used  to characterize membrane pores and pores size distribution. This  study compares the effectiveness of the two methods to measure 0.2 µm rated  membranes.  The  effect  of membrane chemistry (PES, PVDF, PTFE, and Nylon),  membrane  mechanical  properties,  and  the  influence of membrane structure  (symmetry and asymmetry) on pore size measurement were discussed in the poster.
