Two models relating the tensile strength to microscopic parameters and porosity are reconsidered. Furthermore, experimental and DEM-simulation results are presented and compared to those models. In the simulations, the influence of friction the powder's tensile strength is analysed. A new, exponential relationship between the tensile strength and the powder's porosity is found, which also describes previous experimental data from the literature.
