The plasma display panel has been the brightest commercial product for the high-definition TV. However, the development of more efficient and more stable phosphors under VUV excitation were remained in a challenge. Specially, to achieve the high speed addressing for the plasma display, the discharge characteristics of green cell should be enhanced. In this work, to enhance the address discharge characteristics of green cells, the surface state of Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ phosphor were modified by metal oxide, which is positively charged, for instances, magnesium oxide (MgO), yttrium oxide (Y2O3), lanthanum oxide (La2O3), aluminum oxide (Al2O3). After fabricating a green cell with metal oxide-coated Zn2SiO4:Mn2+, the electrical and optical properties were examined. The discharge stability of PDP cell was secured and luminescence intensity of the green cell using metal oxide coated phosphor layer was also improved by 10%. Also, longevity of coated phosphors were examined in this work.
