“One unplanned shutdown of our plant wipes out a year of benefits from all of our Advanced Process Control (APC) applications”. Even though APC provides a good return on investment, perhaps its positive impact on plant availability provides even more economic benefit! Good control performance improves plant availability by 1-5%. With this in mind, the design and implementation of the control system should include process availability as performance criteria. This presentation will discuss this concept and implementation aspects.
