Laurence Pearlman, School of Labor & Employment Relations, University of Illinois, Champaign, IL and Susie Scott, Oliver Wyman, Chicago, IL

The world of leadership evaluation and expectations have changed dramatically. However, the competencies we use to evaluate (and select) leaders have not changed in the last decade. This presentation introduces new competencies that should leaders should be evaluated against.

In particular:

- What competencies should we expect from our leaders and front line?

- Which competencies matter in the execution of process safety?

- How are competencies integrated into performance appraisals?

- How are competencies integrated into selection processes?

- What are some of the better practices in industry?
