The innovation of processes, products and operational competence are key factors for competitiveness and sustainability of the chemical and petrochemical industry. The discussion on competence is validated considering the diversification and specialization of tasks in these complex processes. Thus, business skills management has evolved through radical changes compared to what has occurred in other segments such as the mechanical metal, textile and beverage. The aim of this paper is to present and apply a new methodology to identify the types and intensity of skills required for complex activities in the chemical industry. This project was based on the perception of operators, registration of events shift routine and evaluation profiles. The methodology is divided into the following stages: mapping critical activities; draw up a list of activities and classes; perception of operators for losses (process awareness); processing to analyze competence gaps; criteria and requirements for competence inventory calculation (IC); distribution of training hours by criticality and function; analysis of the results of the companies, after evaluation method to correct number of hours of training required; update critical activities in the new poll from the evaluation of the company and perception of operators. This new methodology aims to update annual program to define issues and time required for training operators. To control and good development of the program, were created indexes, evaluating throughout the turnover of the initial program the efficiency of it. A main index for verification of these evaluation factors is the competence measured (CM), when confronted with the competence expected (EC) indicate the real need for training in certain areas or aspects of the industry routine. This program has been validated by the application in the chemical industry and oil. This article will show as product: training program and the prioritization of activities that impact in these continuous process industries. After application of the methodology, it can be seen that the more you study and increases specific and necessary skills for jobs or complex activity, the greater becomes the likelihood of success in a training program for industrial routine. Among the benefits those who stand out is the improvement in communication, technical preparation and understanding to perform activity with enhanced security, increased productivity and lower costs.
