High Capacity Trays in a Pdh Plant

Crackers in US are booming thanks to Shale Gas, however, lightening of crackers feedstocks reduces propylene supplies. On-purpose propylene production is inevitably the solution to meet propylene demand. Among various on-purpose propylene processes, propane dehydrogenation (PDH) had gained its popularity in both the US and in Asia.

 

In the middle of 2015, Hyosung Corporation had successfully commissioned its second PDH plant in its Ulsan facility. The success was a combined effort of Hyosung’s own PDH technology and Shell high performance trays technology.

 

This paper will focus on a review of separations section of the PDH plant, namely the Shell high performance trays and feed inlet devices technologies in the C₃ Splitter.
