For any curator there is always a balance to be kept between the expectations of your audiences and the politicism of the stance behind the show that your produce. At Leeds Industrial Museum (West Yorkshire, UK) we recently opened an exhibition entitled Women, Work & War: 1914-18 looking at the involvement women had in industry during the First World War. In this poster, we’d like to share how we designed a contemporary look and feel to engage new audiences and introduce politics into our exhibition curation.

Our poster will show the first principles we started out from, the consultation we made and the editorial decision-making behind the finished exhibition artwork.
