Friday, June 2, 2017: 10:15 AM-2:30 PM
Student Center Atrium/Registration Desk (Hofstra University)

Session Abstract

The National Collaborative for Women's History Sites (NCWHS) and the National Park Service will host a special event at Sagamore Hill NHS, a 30-minute bus ride away from Hofstra University. The trip will include a private tour of the Roosevelt home with NPS curator Laura Dabrowski and Alice Roosevelt Longworth’s biographer, Stacey Cordery. Participants will also visit the Old Orchard Museum.

This trip follows the panel "Powerful Women's History Teaching: Three Historic Sites and an Archive" scheduled for Friday, June 2, 8:30-10 am in room 142 of the Student Center. One need not attend the panel to join the tour.

As for the timing of the tour and return. The group will spend approximately 3 and 1/2 hours at Sagamore Hill. We will arrive there at 11 am and leave Sagamore Hill at about 2:30 pm and arrive back at Hofstra by 3:00 pm. We encourage those taking the trip to buy a box lunch for Friday. These can be picked up before the tour leaves.

Participants should gather at the Conference Registration Desk in the Student Center Atrium by 10:30 am for the bus to Sagamore Hill.

The tour can accommodate 35 participants. To register for the tour click here.
