Session Abstract

This panel examines the interaction between gender and race in three colonial contexts. One paper focuses on the emigration of girls in the British Empire, specifially to South Africa. The second paper looks at British narratives of key individuals within the Empire, and the third focuses on two collections of indigenous narratives of marriage and sovereignty, one Cherokee in the US and the other Australian.
