Global Art History is a very current and still unresolved field. In this presentation, insights on global Art History from a comparative approach, as is practiced at the University of Central Oklahoma where each Art History class is research oriented, will be discussed. We will share samples of comparative Art Historical studies by undergraduate students and the impact research-oriented classes have had on student academic success, including critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills, and global and cultural competence. The success of this approach is measured by increased student participation at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, at the Second World Congress on Undergraduate Research, and at the Oklahoma Research Day, among others, as well as by student publications in undergraduate journals, admittance to graduate schools, and work in the Art History and museum professions.
