This paper will present the multiple roles that drawing has played within my interdisciplinary artistic practice over the past two decades. Beyond a simple means to initiate exploration, my use of drawing transcends traditional two-dimensional confines to serve as a vehicle to transport ideas across media and to create work on paper, stop-motion animation, three-dimensional sculpture, and environmental intervention. As such, drawing is employed in my work as a methodology for mediating between concept and material, body, and environment. It functions not merely as a means to create image or form but a process through which to make meaning and to meditate on questions of perfection, human mortality, and the inseparability of bodies, culture, and environment.
