Lake Huron (Hilton Chicago)
How far is 1,200 feet? How do wave and current patterns effect objects floating in them? What is it like to walk on water? Augmenting more traditional ethnographic and observational strategies in large-scale works, Nowacek will present the methods and works developed in her ongoing project to reconnect New Yorkers to their waterways. Nowacek will show how found objects transformed into sculptural tools, and the use of performance as research strategies, aided in creating a body of knowledge about New York City's urban waterways.
