In my professional life I regularly cross the lines between curator, mentor, advocate, and artist, expressing my creative energies through each endeavor. As the director of a small university gallery and the only full-time staff, I wear many hats there as well. My presentation explores three areas: my curatorial work as artistic collaboration, the gallery as an extension of my studio, and how my own practice, interests, and politics influence my decision-making and the possible impact to the artist's intent. I briefly discuss these areas using exhibitions at the gallery that I have curated, or programmed as examples of my authorship, and the insights and challenges that come with being an artist curator.
