Perspectives on Constructive Critiques

The critique is the defining feature of visual arts and design education. Taking as its impetus the recent publication of CRITS: A Student Manual by Terry Barrett, this session offers perspectives on the broader possibilities of this pedagogical and potentially community-building model. An introduction from a college administrative perspective will be followed by three lenses on critiques. The discussant will then open the conversation to the session as a whole with the goals of reviewing and revising our understandings and practices of critique and recognizing the model’s generative possibilities.
