Indigenous Responses to Globalization: Calls for Papers

There is a need to stimulate, for pedagogical and scholarly reason, a conversation between professors working on colonial textualities, mostly from the XVI-XVII century on, with the production coming from indigenous communities about the ways the have read the colonial experience in the Americas, as well as with others working on globalization cultural processes and even world literature including indigenous production. A session would not only allow for a documented and informed conversation about these areas of study but also to contribute to others who may be looking for ways to integrate them through creating teaching, research projects and dissemination events around these issues.

The existing scholarship on the colonial period and colonialism tend to be dissociated from the work done around world literatures and global aesthetics. There is a increasingly important gap between these scholarly endeavors that may be possible to close by bringing together professors working on those fields. by teaching at the undergraduate level and having a consistent research agenda on these issues, I have seen the need to bridge them in order to look for teaching initiatives that tend to imbricate both areas of problems and materials, and to stimulate and share research done to back them up.
