Biographical Sketch: John Brooks is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Comparative Studies and the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts at the Ohio State University. Previously, he taught at Boston College and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry at Emory University. He is the author of "The Racial Unfamiliar: Illegibility in Black Literature and Culture" (Columbia UP, "Literature Now" series, 2022). His research has also appeared in PMLA, African American Review, J19, and on Critical Inquiry's blog, "In the Moment."
