SNP Analysis in Five Korean Native Chicken Lines from NGS Data
SNP Analysis in Five Korean Native Chicken Lines from NGS Data
The five lines of Korean native chicken, mainly classified by feather colors (Gray Brown, Black, Red Brown, White, Yellow Brown), are very important genetic resources in Korea. In order to investigate the genomic variations, these five lines of chickens were sequenced using Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS) technology. In total, 35~37 billion base pairs were obtained from 350,530,416~375,424,656 sequence reads. These sequences were subjected to the high quality trimming and more than 25X reads were obtained. The initial sequence analysis indicated that over 95% were matched with the reference chicken genome in NCBI. Also, the results show that the Korean native chickens have more than 3.8 million SNPs of which 26 % were the identical SNPs and the rest SNPs were novel. The identified genomic variations in this study will be applied in the diverse research areas in chicken.
