KeyGene: Next Generation Plant Breeding- An Asian Perspective
NEXT GENERATION PLANT BREEDING - AN ASIAN PERSPECTIVE
Agriculture is at a turning point. On one hand the food demand driven by population and economic growth in emerging countries is reaching record values. On the other hand the environmental pressure on water supplies, arable lands and fertile soils are setting a physical limit to extensive agriculture. In this context, KeyGene is striving to increase crop productivity and adaptability by delivering innovative molecular plant breeding solutions to its agricultural business partners. Focused on breeders’ needs, KeyGene is currently deploying a set of solutions (technology and traits) integrating lead gene discovery, generation of functional diversity by molecular mutagenesis and precision phenotyping. This workshop will address how some of our integrated key technologies, like Whole Genome Profiling (WGP™) and CropPedia, can ease the deciphering of plant genomes and facilitate the translation of genomic data into strategic traits of high economic value. By combining developers’ and users’ points of view, the workshop aims at providing a complete understanding of how these technologies and traits will advance your own research and plant breeding programs. A vision of the future of molecular plant breeding will also be discussed.
