The increase in the human population is predicted to extend further the pressure to achieve Food Security for all. Expansion into new arable land will not suffice and innovative solutions at all levels of the food chain will be critical for any chance of success. In this talk we present research activities for the surveillance and diagnosis of bacterial and viral pathogens that impact the cattle and plant industries in Australasia.
