Transitioning TAIR to iPlant

As part of the effort to create the next-generation Arabidopsis Information Portal (AIP), TAIR is currently transitioning its database, tools, and web site from the Carnegie Institution for Science to iPlant, based at the University of Texas, Austin, Computing Center (TACC). To ensure that TAIR serves the community, this project is upgrading TAIR to current versions of infrastructure software for stability and maintainability; restructuring the internal architecture to take advantage of cloud computing and virtual server technology; and enhancing certain TAIR subsystems to improve stability, maintainability, and automation. Scheduled for completion in February 2013, the TAIR Transition project will provide the Arabidopsis community with a stable TAIR interface during the transition to AIP. TAIR will then work with AIP developers to integrate the TAIR data into the AIP.
