Genomic shocks in hybrids can generate new variation such as chromosome translocation, heterochromatin and centromere changes. Wheat wide crossing and alien introgression process induced chromosome remodeling, these have been found in the derivatives from hybrids between wheat and wild relatives included Thinopyrum intermedium, tetraploid Th. elongatum and Secale cereale. Several newly formed translocation chromosomes between wheat and wheatgrass have been released and it is interesting to find the functional centromeres of alien chromosome without canonical centromere sequence. Dicentric and multi-centric chromosomes have been found in the derivatives of wheat wide hybridization when using the nulli-tetra lines as one parent.
